HORSEBACK RIDES

See the beauty of Montezuma from the tranquil pace of horseback.   Jungles, mountains, beaches and waterfalls are all within easy reach. 

At El Pinto expeditions, we offer quality tours for a wonderful horse-riding and all round natural experience for everyone, no matter what riding level or previous experience.       

No previous experience at all?   No problem, that is our bilingual guide’s specialty. 

He has lead many people through their first ride with equal attention to safety and enjoyment. 

Our horses are well cared for, well-fed, well behaved and never over-worked.

We offer a personalized service where each riders’ needs are taken into account., and as owners /operators, the satisfaction of our  clients and the well being of our horses  are our primary concerns.

Beach/Waterfall tour:  $50

Approximately 4 hours – 1½ hours easy riding each way through seven beautiful sandy oceanside beaches and shady jungle trails with a good chance of sighting various types of wildlife. 

1 hour break for swimming in a fresh water swimming hole and a visit to one of the few ocean waterfalls in the world.  .  A tropical fruit snack and drinking water are included. 

Start time depends on tides.  

Las Delicias tour: $50

Approximately  4 hours – relaxing trip includes a river crossing, typical rural scenery, a stop at a country-side pub.  Fantastic views from ‘The Drop’ and ending with a coastline ride into town.

Spanish/English bilingual professional guide.

Recommended : long trousers, sturdy shoes (i.e trainers/runners/boots), hat, sunscreen.  Be sure to bring a bathing suit, too! 

We are the only fully licensed horse tour in Montezuma, and our horses have all been approved by the Animal Health government agency.

We hold the safety and enjoyment of our clients in equal high regard, while never compromising the well-being and safety of the horse.  Riders are matched with the most suitable horse for them, to enhance all aspects for both rider and horse.

We believe that, as owners of working horses, we have an obligation to provide them with everything they need and deserve to stay healthy, happy and fit, including loving care.  They are part of our family and we take their well-being seriously!

Marvin Uva - Owner/Guide

A native Costa Rican, Marvin has worked with horses, and other animals, since early childhood on the family farm and his horse-care experience has carried on from there, including years in Canada and the United States. 

He has been guiding horseback tours for eight years in Costa Rica, and has earned an excellent reputation locally, both with his knowledge and care of horses, and his ability to manage group tours safely while still ensuring enjoyable outings.

He specialises in helping people with no or little experience (also those who have had a previous bad experience), learn how to enjoy the ride and how to develop a partnership with the horse.  He is attentive to individual needs, no matter what level of rider you are.

His love and respect for horses is infectious, and part of what he brings to your tour, is not just the technicalities of riding, but the chance to begin to get to know and appreciate your horse and its’ individual character.
